9 Easy Ways to Create a Beautiful Catholic Home

Incorporating Catholic decor into your home is a wonderful way to strengthen your family’s faith. Weaving my faith into my decor has helped me feel so much closer to God. When I’m going about my day and see a picture of Jesus, it reminds me of how loved I am by God. I’d love to share some ways you can create a beautiful Catholic home.

The first thing I would suggest is to have a house blessing. Having a priest bless your home will give your family many graces. If you’d like more information about how to get your home blessed, click here. The following ideas will be visual, tangible things you can start on today! Everyone has a different style, so feel free to make these your own. Whether you’re a minimalist or a maximalist, there’s something here for you.

1. Keep Religious Photos on Display — I have a table with several photos of my family in my living room. Mixed in are photos of the Divine Mercy. I used a gold frame, so it matches my decor. I try to incorporate my faith into my decor in ways that are subtle and clear.

2. Hang Rosaries — Since we already had hooks for Christmas stockings above our fireplace, we use them to hang our rosaries throughout the rest of the year. We pray a nightly rosary in our living room, and seeing the rosaries is an excellent visual reminder of our devotion to Mary.

3. Have a Bible Visible — I like to keep our family bible on our kitchen island, so when I pass by during the day I can open it and read a quick scripture verse. Keeping your bible somewhere both visible and accessible will ensure that you don’t forget to read it!

4. Use a Holy Water Font — A holy water font by your front door is a beautiful reminder to bless yourself when you enter or leave your home. Guests can use it too!

5. Miraculous Medal in your pillows- How beautiful to have Mother Mary with you all night while you sleep.  All you do is take some blessed Miraculous Medals and sow them into the pillows then put the pillow case back on them.

6. Make Your Kitchen Holy — If you spend as much time in the kitchen as I do, you know that doing dishes can become monotonous. One way to remind yourself that your work is sacred is to have something holy above your sink that you can look at. I have a holy card taped to my kitchen window, as well some Catholic window clings.

7. Keep Spiritual Books Handy — Keep spiritual reading on an end table or coffee table, so you’ll see them whenever you sit down. This serves as a nice reminder to take a few minutes each day to read something holy!

8. Make a Home Altar — Create a cozy space where you and your family can pray every night. A home altar doesn’t need to be elaborate; you can use a small table, with a crucifix, candle, or a statue(so many of my ideas HERE.)

9. Hang Crucifixes — Having a crucifix or a framed picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus really changes your home. Every time I walk by the cross, I am reminded of how much God loves me. If possible, try to hang a crucifix in all of your bedrooms, especially your children’s.

*Bonus Having a fun Marian themed Table Setting.
